Blizzard batters northern Xinjiang, triggering emergency response

A powerful blizzard struck Jeminay County in the Altay Prefecture of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on March 4, with winds reaching gale-force levels of 8 to 9 and visibility dropping below 10 meters, severely disrupting traffic and power infrastructure. In response, local police escorted vehicles at reduced speeds and rerouted traffic on key routes to ensure safety. Power departments conducted urgent line inspections under harsh conditions, monitored ice buildup on equipment and reinforced 24-hour emergency standby to secure stable electricity supply for residents and businesses.
