China's first emotion-themed library opened to the public in February on the sixth floor of the Hubei Provincial Library in Wuhan, offering a cultural space aimed at soothing minds.
Built around the ideas of emotional awareness, perception and healing, the library features seven themed zones. In the Emotion Archive area, visitors can select their current mood and receive personalized reading recommendations. In the Mind Symphony section, cameras analyze facial expressions to suggest music that matches a visitor's emotional state. In the Healing Garden, guests can relax in soft seats and listen to audiobooks. Readers are also invited to write or draw their feelings and place them in an "emotion collector."
Blending literature, technology and mindfulness, the library aims to create a warm public space where reading becomes a way to reconnect with oneself.
