Two Chinese badminton pairs moved a step closer to BWF All England Open success in two doubles draws in Birmingham on Thursday.

In mixed doubles, the World No. 2 duo of Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin continued to dominate Malaysia's Goh Soon Huat and Lai Shevon Jemie, extending a run that has now seen them win nine of the last ten head-to-head meetings.

A nervy start left the pair from China trailing 7‑6 when Goh clipped the net, before Jiang and Wei found their rhythm to close out the first game 21‑16. They maintained their momentum in the second, as Jiang's thunderous smashes punctured rallies, and the Chinese duo wrapped up the contest 21‑18. They will face France's Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue in the quarterfinals.

In men's doubles, Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang survived a three‑game test against Chinese Taipei's Lee Jhe‑Huei and Yang Po‑Hsuan, prevailing 21‑17, 14‑21, 21‑11. After conceding the second set, Liang and Wang regrouped emphatically in the decider, booking a last‑eight meeting with Indonesia's Raymond Indra and Nikolaus Joaquin for a place in the semifinals.
