Revenue of China's major cultural enterprises hits 15 trillion yuan: Minister of Culture and Tourism

The nine-day Spring Festival holiday saw 596 million domestic trips and spending exceeding 800 billion yuan ($110.47 billion), Sun Yeli, Minister of Culture and Tourism, said at a press conference on people's livelihood during the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress. For the full year 2025, domestic travel volume surpassed 6.5 billion trips, up over 16% year on year, with total expenditure reaching 6.3 trillion yuan (roughly $875 billion), a 9.5% increase.

Sun said that the cultural sector also showed robust growth, with revenue of enterprises above the designated size in culture and related industries hitting 15 trillion yuan ($2.1 trillion) in 2025, up 7.4%, while total profits reached 1.4 trillion yuan (around $194 billion).
