China-Russia relations remain strong and resilient despite external pressure, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Sunday.

Speaking at a press conference on the sidelines of the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress in Beijing, Wang said the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for the new era embodies the essence of a new type of international relations and represents the direction of a new type of major-country relations.

Wang noted that the two countries maintain strategic independence, enjoy a high level of political mutual trust and coordinate closely on major international issues. He said their practice of "working back-to-back" lies at the heart of the relationship, and that this strong strategic resilience enables China-Russia ties to defy any external instigation or pressure.

Wang said that 80 years ago, China and Russia jointly contributed to the establishment of the postwar international order, and that eight decades later, the two countries will continue to work together to inject momentum into the development of a multipolar world.
