China's Defense Ministry sternly warns Japan over long-range missile deployment

A Chinese defense ministry spokesperson on Wednesday sternly warned Japan against its deployment of long-range offensive missiles, stating that such moves pose a real threat to regional security and constitute a dangerous path.

Jiang Bin, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense, made the statement in response to a media inquiry about Japan's recent deployment of long-range missiles with a range of about 1,000 kilometers, capable of covering coastal areas of neighboring countries.

Jiang noted that, for some time, right-wing forces in Japan have been accelerating moves toward remilitarization, including efforts to revise the Peace Constitution, amend key national security documents, and alter the Three Non-Nuclear Principles. The explicit deployment of long-range offensive weapons with ranges far exceeding Japan's territory completely strips away the disguises of an "exclusively defense-oriented policy" and "self-defense," he said.

"This fully demonstrates that Japan's 'new militarism' is no longer just a dangerous tendency but a blatant and real threat, constituting a serious disruption to regional peace and security," Jiang said.

He solemnly warned Japan that the old path of militarist expansion leads to self-destruction. Should Japan dare to infringe upon China's sovereignty and security by force, it will inevitably face a resolute counterblow and suffer a thorough defeat, the spokesperson added.
