Ran Hui, a village leader from southwest China's Chongqing Municipality and a deputy to the National People's Congress, brought some tomatoes grown by her fellow villagers to Beijing during this year's Two Sessions.

Coming from a once-isolated mountain village, she has spent years pushing for better transportation and promoting local agricultural industries. Today, improved roads are helping farm produce like tomatoes reach wider markets, bringing new opportunities to rural communities.
