Scientists in Shanghai have achieved a world-first regenerative islet transplant that helps patients with type 1 diabetes regain insulin function. By implementing a new endoderm stem-cell technology, the team has cut the production time of insulin-secreting islet cells from 40 days to just 14 days, which significantly reduces tumor risks. The findings were published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology.
