China to step up legal efforts to further improve business environment

China will focus on enhancing legal efforts to further improve the business environment this year, Chinese Minister of Justice He Rong said on Thursday.

In the past year, the Ministry of Justice launched a nationwide campaign to regulate enterprise-related law enforcement, reviewing and rectifying more than 60,000 relevant legal cases, which reduced companies' economic losses by nearly 30 billion yuan (about $4.37 billion), the minister said at a Ministers' Corridor interview after the closing meeting of the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress in Beijing.

China will step up its legal efforts in the upcoming year to address prominent issues, including building a unified national market, tackling local protectionism, removing improper market entry barriers and curbing harmful market "involution," the minister added.
