Lyu Yan, deputy county head of Baoting Li and Miao Autonomous County in south China's Hainan Province and a deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC), answered a question from CGTN reporter Feng Yilei during a group interview on Thursday ahead of the closing meeting of the fourth session of the 14th NPC at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
She said Baoting lies at the heart of Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park, where local communities both rely on and protect the mountains and waters.
According to Lyu, residents have developed forest-based industries such as rainforest hot spring wellness tourism and rainforest hiking, allowing visitors not only to enjoy the scenery but also to better understand the ecological vitality of this "green kingdom." She added that this shared commitment to protection has laid a solid ecological foundation for the region.
