The Israeli military said on Thursday it had struck the Taleghan facility in Tehran, describing it as a site used in Iran's efforts to advance its nuclear capabilities.

In a statement, the military said the strike targeted the Taleghan compound in recent days. It said the facility had been used in recent years to develop advanced explosives and conduct experiments linked to the AMAD project, which Israel describes as a covert Iranian program to develop nuclear weapons.

The International Atomic Energy Agency says the AMAD project operated between 1989 and 2003, though Israel alleges some of its activities have continued.

Iran has consistently denied seeking nuclear weapons, saying its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. There was no immediate comment from Tehran on the extent of any damage at the Taleghan site.

The military also released satellite imagery of the operation.

The attack followed a similar strike on March 3 that targeted the Minzadehei compound on the outskirts of Tehran, which Israel said was used for the scientific development of key components for nuclear weapons.

The strike came as the regional conflict, triggered by a joint US-Israeli attack on Iran, entered its 13th day.
