A long-range artillery sub-unit of the Korean People's Army of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in the western area conducted a firepower strike drill on March 14, the DPRK's official news agency reported on Sunday.

The drill involved 12 600mm-calibre ultra-precision multiple rocket launchers and two artillery companies, the report said.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the DPRK, observed the firepower strike drill on site.

The launched rockets hit an island target about 364.4 km away in the eastern waters off the Korean Peninsula, according to the report.

Saying that the most powerful attacking capability precisely means a reliable defense capability, the DPRK leader stressed that his country will maintain durable peace through powerful military capabilities, according to the report.
