Dongyu Island sits at the meeting point of the Wanquan, Longgun, and Jiuqu rivers in Bo'ao, Hainan Province – a flat, sandy island shaped by river deposits over time. Palm trees and mangroves blanket the land, while egrets find their home in the wetlands around Lemei Lake. Since 2002, Dongyu Island has been the permanent venue for the Boao Forum for Asia. In 2023, it earned the title of National Tourist Resort and went 100% green with its energy use, officially running on near-zero carbon.
