In this episode of "The Journey Ahead," CGTN heads to Changchun, capital of Jilin Province, to visit Changguang Satellite, a trailblazer in China's commercial space sector, to see how it's fueling the country's space ambitions at the outset of the 15th Five-Year Plan.
From a research institute to a market-driven commercial space leader, Changguang Satellite grew out of the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics. Since 2014, it has focused on commercial space. Its self-developed Jilin-1 constellation, launched in 2015, kicked off China's commercial space era. In 2023, it set a record by sending 41 satellites into orbit in one mission – staking its claim in the global low-orbit race.
