How a couple helps preserve the traditional Yi costume and culture one frame at a time

After living in big cities, Amu and Ajia from Xide in the Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture returned to their hometown with one dream – to promote Yi culture. The duo collected vintage Yi garments, showcasing the art and symbolism of Yi embroidery, and opened a photography studio centered on traditional Yi culture and costumes. Through their lens, they capture precious moments of family gatherings, freezing the elegance of Shengzha-style costumes and the vibrancy of Yi wedding customs in time. The mortal warmth and poetic beauty of the Yi hometown are gently preserved in every single photograph.
