Japan has proposed suspending its 8% consumption tax on food to ease inflation.
Cai Guiquan, an associate research fellow at the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, China's Ministry of Commerce, commented that the move may not really helping low‑income people, but benefits higher-income groups.
