The Spring Equinox, the fourth of the 24 solar terms, is the day when the sun is directly above the equator, making day and night nearly equal in length across the globe. After this point, days grow longer and temperatures rise steadily in the Northern Hemisphere, marking the official arrival of bright and warm spring.

In traditional farming culture, the Spring Equinox is of great significance, as it kicks off the busy farming season. People also commonly practice customs such as balancing eggs, ancestor worship, eating spring vegetables and handing out "Spring Ox" pictures, all of which reflect a deep respect for the natural order and prayers for a fruitful harvest.
