The main cast of the film Peng Hu made a striking appearance on the red carpet of the inaugural China Media Group's Chinese Film Gala in Beijing on Friday, March 20.

The date, a rare alignment which brought together the traditional Chinese calendar's "Dragon Head-raising Day" and the Spring Equinox, provided an auspicious backdrop for the release of the film's new trailer. The unveiling at this high-profile event has sparked widespread anticipation.

The star-studded cast – including actor Wang Xueqi, Du Jiang, Hou Wenyuan, Geng Le and Zhang Jin, among others – walked the red carpet adorned with dang gui, or Chinese angelica, flower pins on their chests. The angelica flower – primarily symbolizing "return" or "reunion" – conveyed a heartfelt message of longing for the reunion of both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

Peng Hu takes its inspiration from authentic historical occurrences. In 1683, Qing Emperor Kangxi issued a decree, commanding naval force leader Shi Lang to lead his soldiers in the pivotal Penghu battle, which culminated in the reunification with Taiwan.
