Qinghai Lake, China's largest inland saltwater lake, has entered its 2026 ice-breaking period, as the plateau lake, frozen solid throughout the winter, is now undergoing rapid thawing.
In recent years, with the steady progress in the construction of Qinghai Lake National Park and strengthened ecological protection across the basin, the lake's surface area has continued to expand, while biodiversity in the region has steadily improved.
