China's first 550-megawatt F-class gas turbine unit starts power generation

China Huadian Corporation Ltd. announced the start of power generation from the country's first 550-megawatt F-class gas turbine unit after 168 hours of full-load operation. Part of the Huadian Chongqing Tongnan project, the unit has a total capacity of 1.1 million kilowatts, making it the largest and most efficient F-class turbine in China. The project will generate 2.1 billion kilowatt-hours annually, enough to power 1.75 million households, save 200,000 tonnes of coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 860,000 tonnes, with near-zero sulfur dioxide and particulate emissions.
