Chinese merganser ducks, an endangered "living fossil" species under first-class state protection in China, are leaving their winter home in east China's Jiangxi Province. Particularly picky about their living environment, these aquatic birds have returned to winter in the Luxi River area for 19 years in a row – a clear sign of healthy and thriving local ecosystems.They are now flying north in groups to their breeding grounds.
