A team from the University of Science and Technology Beijing has developed drones modeled after an eagle, pigeon, butterfly and beetle. These bio-inspired aircraft fly by beating their wings like birds. The eagle-like drone can precisely track ground targets using a vision system inspired by real birds of prey. One prototype can fly continuously for up to 256 minutes. Researchers said future flapping-wing drones will be smarter and more autonomous.
