When influenza strikes, our immune system must fight a tough battle. Fever, sore throat and general discomfort are all part of the body's response as it combats the virus. In an interview with CGTN, Liu Jun, a researcher at the Guangzhou National Laboratory, led by renowned Chinese medical scientist Zhong Nanshan, said the flu vaccine allows the immune system to "recognize the enemy" in advance and prepare its "scouts" and "ammunition." 

Consequently, when the virus arrives, the body can identify and eliminate it more quickly. Health authorities also stressed that vaccination remains one of the most effective and economical ways to prevent influenza.
