On Saturday, a shipping route linking the Chinese mainland and the Taiwan region recorded more than 4,000 passenger trips in a single day, marking a new high since the route reopened in 2023. The route connects the city of Xiamen in southeast China's Fujian Province with Kinmen Island, located off the coast and administered by the Taiwan region.

According to Xiamen's border inspection authorities, as of March 21, the route has handled more than 400,000 trips this year, representing a year-on-year increase of over 20%.
