A simple equation: How a community can reach zero carbon

As the permanent venue of the Boao Forum for Asia, Dongyu Island is now home to China's first zero-carbon demonstration zone – a project with both domestic and international certification.

11,350 tonnes. That was the island's annual carbon emissions back in 2019.

Today? That number is close to zero.

So how do you bring tens of thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions down to zero – and where does it all go?

CGTN's Zhu Siying takes us through the zero-carbon equation behind it.
