Tang Shiyu started learning the pipa as a child. Now pursuing a doctorate in theater, she has been exploring one question: what happens when ancient instruments meet the contemporary stage?

In her view, young Chinese instruments are not relics to be placed on a shelf – they are a living language that can be used to create something new. Hear her thoughts on the future of traditional Chinese music.
