China warns the Philippine side to immediately cease its provocative acts and smear campaigns, Liu Dejun, spokesperson of China Coast Guard (CCG), said on Wednesday.
The CCG will continue to carry out rights-protection and law-enforcement activities in the waters of China's Huangyan Dao in accordance with the law and will resolutely safeguard China's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests, Liu said in a statement on "the Philippine Coast Guard's Provocations and False Accusations."
Recently, the CCG conducted routine rights-protection and law-enforcement training in the adjacent waters under China's jurisdiction near Huangyan Dao and had issued a navigation safety notice in advance in accordance with the law, the spokesperson said.
During the training, the Philippine side assembled a large number of ships to intrude on the training area under the pretext of "fishing," attempting to stir up trouble, sensationalize the situation, and grab international attention, the spokesperson added.
