A lynx mother and her cubs were captured on an infrared camera in northwestern China. The curious cubs stopped to have a sniff of the wildlife camera as the young family paced along a trail at the Tianshan National Nature Reserve in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Lynx are usually solitary animals. For a mother to raise cubs, the habitat must provide stable prey and minimal disturbance, a quiet indicator of ecosystem quality. The reserve is also home to snow leopards and brown bears.
