Former CPEC envoy weighs in on China's role in Asia, the world

Zafar Uddin Mahmood, policy advisor to the Secretary General of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) and former Special Envoy of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), has witnessed China's transformation firsthand since his first visit in 1976. His connection to the BFA spans nearly two decades.

Reflecting on 50 years of change, Mahmood told CGTN's Zang Shijie about the changes he's seen over half a century. "Everything has changed," he says. From infrastructure to daily life, while China's landscape, its people, and its open-door policy and economic reforms have remained constant.

Amid rising global uncertainty and Middle East tensions, Mahmood describes China as a stabilizing force for Asia and the world, calling on younger generations to embrace dialogue over confrontation and work toward common global prosperity.
