Tsai Cheng-Yuan, a Taiwan commentator who often voiced views supporting closer ties with the mainland is reportedly to be jailed on Friday. He was convicted of embezzlement by the ruling Democratic Progressive Party authorities and reportedly sentenced to three and a half years. Tsai has stated that he views the case as politically motivated. On this, the Chinese mainland made a comment on Wednesday.
