Since the United States and Israel attacked Iran at the end of February, wholesale oil and gas prices have soared, as missile strikes and drone attacks have caused energy production and transportation across the Middle East to slow down or grind to a complete halt. A new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows that 55% of respondents in the US said their household finances had been at least "somewhat" affected by rising gas prices. Among those impacted, 21% reported that their finances had been affected "a great deal."
CGTN Stringer talked to several New York residents and asked them to talk about the impact of the increase in oil prices on their lives. Taxi driver Ramesh Ali said that due to the increase in oil prices, drivers can only cut their budgets and have no extra money to spend on gasoline. Security guard Neville Brown said that he cannot drive around at will and thinks carefully about where to go before heading out.
