A total of 391 personnel linked to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the latest round of the Palestine-Israel conflict erupted in 2023, the agency said in a report released on Wednesday.
The figure includes 310 UNRWA staff members and 81 personnel supporting its operations.
Since the start of the conflict, UNRWA has provided more than 16.7 million health consultations since October 2023, including vaccinations, medical check-ups and counselling services, the report said.
Around 67,000 displaced people are currently living in 83 collective emergency shelters under its management, according to the agency.
Despite preparations, UNRWA has been unable to establish new medical facilities in Beit Lahia in northern Gaza because of the recent expansion of Israeli militarized zone of control and the worsening security situation, the report noted.
UNRWA is a United Nations agency responsible for delivering humanitarian assistance and protection to Palestine refugees in the Near East, including education, healthcare, relief and social services.
