The European Parliament gave a green light, with conditions, on Thursday to the EU's tariff deal with the United States.

A majority of lawmakers backed cutting EU levies on some US imports, as provided under a deal struck last summer that Brussels has vowed to stick by, but attached additional safeguards.

Before the US tariff deal is implemented by the bloc, it still needs to be negotiated with EU member states.
