The joint military actions launched by Israel and the US against Iran have now lasted a month. As the conflict drags on, the two sides are showing growing misalignment in different areas. This reflects a deeper reality: When national and strategic interests intertwine, even closest allies are far from being monolithic. The growing differences between the US and Israel have placed Washington in an increasingly awkward position, forced to balance between pressing ahead with military action and seeking a path toward de-escalation.
