Xiang Yuwang converted a late penalty as China's U-23 men's team managed a 1-1 draw against the DPRK at the International Youth Tournament on Saturday.

China made six changes to their starting lineup from Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Thailand. The DPRK took the lead in the 23rd minute after goalkeeper Yao Haoyang saved a close-range effort but Ryang Kwang-myong was there for the rebound.

After the break, China rotated their squad but found it difficult to solve the DPRK defense. The breakthrough came in the 85th minute when China earned a penalty kick after Kim Kwon-song fouled Li Xinxiang in the box.

Xiang calmly slotted into the corner for his second goal of the tournament. China will face Vietnam in their final game on Tuesday.

"The DPRK players have a high level of individual ability and they play at a fast pace. We didn't perform well in the early stage of the game. We will improve in training and do our best in the next match," said China midfielder Mao Weijie.
