China has decided to take countermeasures against Japanese lawmaker Keiji Furuya in response to his frequent visits to China's Taiwan region, according to a statement issued Monday on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Despite China's strong opposition, Furuya has repeatedly visited the Taiwan region and colluded with "Taiwan independence" separatist forces. His actions have seriously violated the one-China principle and the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan, severely interfered in China's internal affairs and undermined China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, according to the statement.

The statement said that in accordance with China's Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law, the Chinese side has decided to take the following countermeasures:

– Movable, immovable and all other kinds of property related to Furuya in China will be frozen.

– Organizations and individuals within the territory of China are prohibited from engaging in transactions, cooperation and other activities with Furuya.

– Furuya will not be granted visas and will not be allowed to enter China (including Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions).

The decision takes effect on Monday.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning responded to a related query during a press conference on the same day, stating that the Taiwan question is a core matter of China's interests and a red line that cannot be crossed. China has lodged stern representations with Japan over Furuya's visits to the Taiwan region.
