China and Pakistan put forward five proposals on restoring peace and stability in the Gulf region and the Middle East during talks between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar in Beijing on Tuesday.
The proposals are immediately ceasing hostilities, initiating peace talks as soon as possible, ensuring the safety of non-military targets, ensuring the safety of navigation and safeguarding the primacy of the UN Charter.
Stressing that dialogue and diplomacy are the only viable way out for resolving the conflict, the proposals said China and Pakistan support the parties involved in initiating negotiations, adding that the parties to the conflict should not use or threaten to use force during peace talks.
China and Pakistan call on all parties to the conflict to immediately cease attacks on civilians and non-military targets, fully comply with international humanitarian law, and stop attacks on critical infrastructure such as energy, desalination and electricity facilities, as well as peaceful atomic facilities such as nuclear power plants, according to the proposals.
