A Chinese-made tunnel boring machine (TBM) named Fenji made its debut on March 31 in Nantong, east China's Jiangsu Province.
The TBM boasts a cutterhead diameter of 14.33 meters and is set to play a pivotal role in the construction of the Yangtze River tunnel section of the Yancheng-Yixing high speed railway.
The tunnel will be the country's first socket-type segments tunnel. The construction of this tunnel will promote the intelligent construction of China's ultra-large-diameter underwater tunnel projects.
