The national average price of gasoline in the US is now above $4 per gallon for the first time since the summer of 2022 as the war in Iran drives oil costs higher.
The national average price of diesel has also surpassed $5. According to GasBuddy data, US gasoline prices have surged by more than 34% since late February.
In California, prices are even higher, with average regular gasoline reaching $5.89 per gallon and diesel surpassing $7.50. The gasoline price surge, driven by supply disruptions stemming from the situation in the Middle East, is leading to reduced driving, with many US consumers rethinking travel plans.
