China's envoy to the United Nations Fu Cong said the current conflict stems from US and Israeli military attacks on Iran, and urged Washington and Israel to halt military actions to prevent further escalation. Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting on cooperation between the UN and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Fu also said China does not agree with Iran's attacks on GCC countries, condemned indiscriminate attacks on civilians and non-military targets, and stressed that shipping lanes must remain safe.
