The death toll from a US-Israeli attack on a bridge in Iran's northern Alborz province on Thursday has risen to 13, official news agency IRNA reported on Friday.

The strike also wounded 95 people. The victims, including four women, were civilians, according to Amir-Hossein Daneshkohan, director general of the provincial Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs, as quoted by IRNA.

The B1 bridge in provincial capital Karaj is one of the tallest in the Middle East and among the most complicated projects in Iran. It was targeted in two missile waves on Thursday, IRNA said.

Among those killed and injured were residents of Bileqan village, municipal workers, passengers, and families gathered nearby for Nature Day, a traditional Iranian festival marking the end of Nowruz, said Qodratollah Seif, the province's deputy governor for political, security and social affairs.

Daneshkohan added that 44 civilians have been killed in Alborz province since the war began in late February.

On February 28, Israel and the United States launched joint attacks on Tehran and several other Iranian cities, killing Iran's then Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, along with senior military commanders and civilians. Iran responded with waves of missile and drone strikes targeting Israel and US assets in the Middle East.
