Spring blossoms bloom beneath Potala Palace

A gentle spring snowfall has quietly nourished the ground in Lhasa. As temperatures rise, peach blossoms, cherry blossoms and crabapple flowers begin to bloom beneath Potala Palace, ushering the ancient city into its most vibrant and colorful season of the year.

From mid-March to mid-April, Lhasa enters its peak peach blossom season. At an altitude of 3,650 meters, where day–night temperature differences are significant and ultraviolet radiation is relatively strong, peach trees demonstrate remarkable resilience, accumulating nutrients from the air and bursting into bloom across the valleys, forming sweeping seas of flowers.

Set against the iconic red and white walls of the Potala Palace, clusters of soft pink and white blossoms flourish. Petals drift gently in the breeze, while pilgrims occasionally pass by, turning prayer wheels – together creating a uniquely serene springtime tableau on the plateau.

Now at their peak, Lhasa's peach blossoms are drawing both locals and visitors to the areas surrounding Potala Palace, where they can stroll, admire the blooms, and experience the tranquility and vitality of spring.
