The niece and grandniece of deceased Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani were arrested by federal agents in the US on Friday, the US State Department said on Saturday.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio terminated their lawful permanent resident status, the State Department added.

Details on the charges or reasons for arrest have not yet been disclosed.

Soleimani, former commander of Iran's Quds Force, was killed in a US strike in 2020.
