Pure Brightness, also known as Qingming, is the fifth of the 24 solar terms and typically falls between April 4 and 6. It marks a time of rising temperatures, increased rainfall and fresh green growth – a time when the world turns clean and bright. During the Qingming Festival, families sweep the tombs of departed loved ones, paying respects and cherishing their memory. To "ride the crane to the beyond" is a journey where the crane, a symbol of immortality, carries the pure and lasting memories of the departed. This is a time to honor those memories with a heart as clear and pure as these bright spring days.
