Artemis II crew enters Moon's sphere as Earth fades behind

The four astronauts aboard Artemis II entered the Moon’s gravitational sphere of influence on Monday, continuing their journey toward the shadowed far side of the Moon – poised to become the farthest-traveling humans in history.

The crew is scheduled to wake at around 10:50 a.m. ET Monday for its sixth flight day. By approximately 7:05 p.m., the spacecraft is expected to reach a peak distance of about 406,773 kilometers from Earth – surpassing the record set by the Apollo 13 crew 56 years ago by more than 6,598 kilometers.
