Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf is to head a negotiating team for talks with US Vice President JD Vance in Islamabad, capital of Pakistan, Iranian Students' News Agency reported on Wednesday.

Talks will take place on Friday, the report said, noting that Iran's proposed 10-point framework will encompass not only the nuclear program but also regional security.

The Iranian talks will address primary and secondary sanctions that date back approximately 45 years, the report said.

On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump said that he agreed to "suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks," adding that his decision is "subject to" Iran agreeing to the complete, immediate and safe opening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi promised the safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz for the two-week ceasefire under "coordination" with Iranian armed forces, saying Iran will cease "defensive operations" if attacks against the country stop.
