Despite headwinds, cross-Strait exchanges are showing strong momentum. A mainland expert says the visit by the Chinese Kuomintang delegation has sent a positive, stabilizing signal at a time of growing global uncertainty.

Zheng Zhenqing, deputy director of the Institute of Taiwan Studies at Tsinghua University, highlighted steady growth in people-to-people, cultural, and economic ties across the Taiwan Strait, with the number of Taiwan compatriots visiting the mainland reaching its highest level in over six decades. Zheng said that as the mainland continues to roll out policies to support integration and benefit Taiwan, future exchanges are expected not only to expand, but also to become more targeted and sector-specific.
