NASA's Artemis II splashes down off California coast

NASA's Artemis II mission splashed down off the coast of San Diego in the US state of California on Friday evening.

NASA regarded the high-energy reentry – streaking through the atmosphere in a nearly 5,000-degree Fahrenheit fireball at more than 30 times the speed of sound – as one of the riskiest moments of the mission.

The crew members – Christina Koch, Victor Glover, Jeremy Hansen and Reid Wiseman – will be met by recovery teams and flown to a US military ship for medical evaluations.
