Javaid Iqbal, president of Pakistan’s National Institute of Maritime Affairs, said Islamabad is well positioned to act as a facilitator and mediator in regional tensions, citing its strategic location, nuclear status and ties with major stakeholders, including the United States, Gulf countries and Iran.

He noted that Pakistan’s founding vision saw the country as a "pivot" in global affairs, capable of influencing key decisions. According to him, recent efforts have helped bring conflicting parties to the table and support a ceasefire that is currently holding, particularly in the Gulf region.
