US media said several US Navy ships crossed the Hormuz Strait on Saturday, while Iranian media reported that a US destroyer turned back from the strait after an Iranian warning.
No US vessel has crossed the strait yet, Iran's Tasnim News Agency reported, citing Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson.
It reported that the Iranian armed forces closely monitored the position of the US destroyer and issued a stern warning that it would come under attack if it approached the Strait of Hormuz.
In the meantime, the Iranian side informed its negotiating delegation in Pakistan of the situation, and the Iranian delegation immediately relayed the matter to the US side through Pakistan.
Iran made it clear to Pakistan that if the US warship continued its voyage, it would be sunk within 30 minutes, and the Iran-US negotiations would also be affected, the report added.
